What you can do to get started in Industrial Design
If you're been searching for a passion for a very long time and now you find that industrial design is perfect for you. What should you do next?
First, what does an industrial designer do?
An industrial designer develops, tests, and presents new ideas for the manufacturing of everyday products. They also study who might use a particular product and design for a better user experience. They study the various manufacturing processes which can produce the product on a large scale. They also consult with clients and decide on a design.
So, you've got to find a niche. What do you want to design? Automobiles, Furniture etc.
After you've decided, you'll have to master it.
Industrial designer communicate with the help of sketches. So you've gotta be good at sketching. So, I recommend you visit sites such as Pinterest and find sketches and try to replicate them. It won't be perfect but you've gotta practice repeatedly.
'Practice makes man perfect'
You'll also have to familiar with the design process. Read this.

An industrial designer must be familiar with his materials and manufacturing Processes.
I recommend Chris Lefteri's books on manufacturing Processes and materials to become familiar with the basics.
You'll also have to keep yourself updated and know the standard of designs by reading design magazines. For e.g. Yanko Design , Dezeen and so on.
And at the end you'll have to find an industrial designer who you really like and read their biographies and draw inspiration from their stories.
